Reenacting & Living History

In the Fall of 1993 the 5th Kentucky, Co. C. was formed in Flint, Michigan. Choosing a unique impression to the reenactor hobby, members cast their votes to portray a western Confederate mounted infantry group in which many members' great great grandfathers had served. With a rich and complicated history shrouded in much mystery, Company C has proven to be challenging and rewarding group to portray. Its elusive past continues to drive our group to find answers and narrow the gap between what we know, and what we think we know.

Our current group is comprised of mostly men from lower Michigan, many of whom have ties to eastern Kentucky. We are committed to a relatively high level of authenticity and skill on the battlefield, but we also take pride in our strong sense of fellowship and fun. With a diverse group of gents, including period musicians and artisans, Co. C delves into many aspects of the Civil War soldier, well beyond the obvious.

The hobby of reenacting, or rather, living history, continues to be an enjoyable and important part of our lives for many reasons. We welcome all able bodied men to join up and experience it for themselves.
